Girvan Waugh successfully delivered a fresh modern learning facility and community centre on a project that presented many challenges. The result was stunning.
Project Overview
$2,800,000 budget
Demolition of 2 floors and rebuild of a new school including 4 more floors, a lift well and a library.
Complete Fire upgrade including, EWIS, Booster Pump and Hydrant and Building fire rating.
All delivered to program and in accordance with BER deadlines.
Challenges
Extremely limited site access and delivery hours meant a strict and manageable delivery programme.
Due to heritage issues the building was to be only partially demolished with external walls to be braced and maintained.
The new structure was to be built onto to a heritage listed church. The site was only metres from public access and roads on 3 sides.
Success Factors
As the school was to be built onto an existing structure much of the design had to be amended on the run. Girvan Waugh was able to successfully work with the architect and project management company to accommodate the issues as they occurred.

The budget demands meant that much of the projects design was reviewed to meet the target. Girvan Waugh worked with all trades, consultants and stakeholders to meet these requirements in many practical ways.
